The brilliant play area at Beggarwood Park

The local nature reserve of Beggarwood Park is enclosed by residential areas and is an important recreation space and wildlife habitat. There is a network of surfaced paths providing short and easy walks, a small section of woodland, meadows, a play area, amphitheatre, pump track, outdoor gym and a wild zone with natural play structures.

The Route

  1. This is a really simple one! To complete a short loop of the park, stand with your back to the café/community centre. Bear left and walk down the surfaced path towards the bottom of the park. At the bottom, turn left and walk through the trees. Follow the trees until the furthest edge of the park.

  2. At the edge of the park, turn right up the hill. You will pass the wild zone on your right. This was our favourite area with trees trunks and branches sculpted into natural climbing frames.

  3. Continuing up the hill will take you past outdoor gym equipment and then to the large, enclosed play area with plenty for all ages. Just eyond this is the pump track and the ampitheatre.

  4. You will see the pub far ahead of you, which has outdoor seating overlooking the park.

Beggarwood Park has been presented with the Green Flag Award which recognises high standards in the management of outdoor recreational spaces.
