Tall Trees Trail
Walk under the tallest trees in the New Forest on this easy to follow forestry trail. At the end, play in the steam, take a picnic or grab and ice-cream from the van.
Hartland Country Park
Hartland Country Park is an attractive space comprising woodland, meadows and ponds. Easy, surfaced paths lead to little surprises such as a children’s bike track, picnic area and wooden play area.
New Forest Reptile Centre
If you are visiting The New Forest during the school holidays, then you will not want to miss this walk. Children can view the UK’s native reptiles in a series of pods before embarking on a discovery trail through the forest that will encourage them to engage with their senses.
Witley Common
Witley Common comprises a variety of landscapes from sunny, sandy heathland to green, wooded glades. A walk here is an absolute joy for all ages, and it is made all the more enticing by the rustic wooden play features found near the start of the trail.
Itchen Valley Country Park
A new play trail has arrived at Itchen Valley Country Park, adding to the already excellent play facilities. Enjoy the new wooden, nature themed structures as well as walks through woodland, wildflower meadows and water meadows.
Wickham Water Meadows
The River Meon, which children and dogs can access at the water meadows, flows through the large village of Wickham. Our walk follows a section of the Meon Valley Trail and passes by this popular spot.
Home Farm
Near Bentworth, between Alton and Basingstoke, Home Farm is a landscape of meadows and woodland with butterflies and red kites soaring overhead. Surprisingly, much of this wildlife haven was actually created by carefully managed regeneration of cultivated land over the last 30 years.
Wilverley Inclosure
If you are looking for a place to take the family for a walk in the New Forest, then Wilverley Inclosure makes an excellent choice with its firm, waymarked paths, toilets and a picnic area.
Hundred Acre Wood/West Walk
Known to some as Hundred Acre Wood, West Walk is actually part of The Forest of Bere, an ancient landscape that once stretched uninterrupted across much of Southern Hampshire. Today, you will find miles of easy, marked woodland trails as well as an excellent children’s playground and picnic area.
