Beggarwood Park
Children will want to head straight to the play area and pump track at Beggarwood Park, so it is a good job the walk is super short and easy!
Abinger Roughs
This is a linear walk that features plenty of things to keep young walkers motivated from ancient trees, a tea-room, riverside pubs with play areas, a natural woodland play area, a village playground, a paddling spot and a farm shop.
Fordingbridge
The wide shallow ford at Fordingbridge has to be the best place to paddle in Hampshire and just to add to it, the park next door has its own paddling pool too. You can park up next to the site, or follow our walk from the forest's edge.
Compton Down
We were really excited to visit Hampshire Pantry after it opened and a quick study of the map showed us that we could walk directly to the farm by starting at the superb play area at Oliver’s Battery and hiking over Compton Down with lovely views.
Broadwater Park & The Godalming Navigation
Broadwater Park has plenty to keep families with a play area, ducks to feed, a lake to walk around and waffles to try. But just across the road is The Godalming Navigation, which makes a walk here even more interesting as you can watch the barges traverse the locks.
Holybourne
Holybourne is an attractive village on the outskirts of Alton. There is a great play area, family-friendly pub, duckpond and a network of paths in the surrounding fields.
Southwater Country Park
Cripplegate Lake is at the centre of Southwater Country Park near Horsham. It has a paddling beach and a Dinosaur Island adventure play area.
Runnymede
Runnymede, the birthplace of modern democracy, is now a beautiful open space of meadows beside The River Thames. The area is managed by The National Trust and throughout the site, you can find various art installations and memorials. Riverside walks connect you to the pleasure grounds.
