Wild Garlic

Whether you like to pick it and eat it or just admire its fresh green leaves and fluffy white flowers filling our woodland, then this guide is for you. Below are a selection of walks where you will find it growing plentifully:

The little church on a hill is a picturesque scene all year around, but in the spring it gets even better when the woodland behind it comes alive with wild garlic. It is a truly astonishing sight.

Noar Hill Nature Reserve, Selborne

WE HAVE NOW REMOVED THE LINK TO THIS WALK FOR SPRING 2024, DUE TO A TEMPORARY FOOTPATH CLOSURE.

This walk has views, a downland nature reserve, chalk pits and a wooded hanger that is covered in blooming wild garlic.

It’s a steep climb up, but wow, is it worth it. There are two spectacular viewpoints to discover and millions of garlic flowers in between.

Woodland walks don’t get dreamier than this. Bluebells mix with garlic along the river banks to create a scene straight out of a fairy-tale. Visit the gorgeous village afterwards and try the swing beneath a great oak and the outstanding play area.

Wild garlic fills the banks along the unrestored section of The Basingstoke Canal, although not in as quite as much abundance as are other locations. Children will love the tunnels and passing an alpaca farm.

Just east of the lovely village of Stoughton, lies this peaceful woodland that is an absolute dream in late spring with masses of wild garlic and bluebells.

As you descend through the old chalk pits on this woodland walk, you will find wild garlic spreading along the sides of the path. At the bottom of the hill lies the pretty village of Buriton with duck pond, pubs and excellent play area.
