Hampshire Surrey Sussex
Titchfield Abbey
There are two abbeys for children to explore on this short walk. One is the glorious ruin of Titchfield Abbey and the other is a wooden play structure inspired by the former and set in a brand new park, Abbey Meadows.
Old Winchester Hill
Overlooking the Meon Valley and not actually in Winchester, Old Winchester Hill is a National Nature Reserve with views across The South Downs as far as the Isle of Wight. The chalk grassland is covered in wild flowers and butterflies in summer and you stand a good chance of spotting birds of prey such as red kites.
Buckler’s Hard
Follow the banks of The River Beaulieu to the picturesque ship building hamlet of Buckler’s Hard with its Georgian cottages running down to the quay. There is plenty for the whole family to see and do on this walk, which starts from the popular New Forest village of Beaulieu.
Eling Tide Mill
A two mile stroll starting at Eling Quay will take you past Eling Tide Mill, Eling Great Marsh, Goatee Beach, Eling Church, Bartley Reach and will finish at the Visitor centre and café. The whole route has undergone recent improvements making it wheelchair and pushchair friendly.
