Hampshire Surrey Sussex
Oakhanger & Shortheath Common
The attractive village of Oakhanger is bordered by Shortheath Common, which has special conservation status in recognition of its many habitats. It also has a rather splendid play area right beside the start of this short walk.
Hamble-le-Rice
Hamble is a picturesque sailing village with cobbled streets and quaint shops. This walk passes through the village where you will enjoy river views before crossing the heathland of Hamble Common and the shoreline beyond.
Hinton Ampner
This walk encircles the National Trust property of Hinton Ampner, which is well worth stopping off at for its house and gardens, before looping through the pretty village of Cheriton where you will find a young River Itchen and a historical battle sight.
Halnaker Windmill
Photographers come from far and wide to see the famous tree tunnel at Halnaker, near Chichester, in its Autumn glory. But this is a walk for all seasons with an atmospheric ruin, vineyards and a hilltop windmill to see along the way.
Every Ambling Path walk has a stand out feature that children will love including magnificent play areas, shallow rivers for paddling, epic country parks and ancient ruins to explore.
