Rowlands Castle and Stansted Forest
In 2023, a new playground was completed in Rowlands Castle. Using this as a starting point, if you walk over the splendid village green, passing pubs and a café, you will find yourself in a forest where long grassy rides frame views of Stansted House.
Stansted Park
Stansted Park stands in 1800 acres of parkland and forest with miles of footpaths and bridleways to explore. This guide gives you three family friendly walks to chose from that can all be combined with a visit to the house and other attractions.
St. Hubert’s Church
This really is the walk for all seasons. The isolated church provides a splendid place to walk at any time of the year, but in spring the woodland behind it hides the most spectacular display of wild garlic and in the summer the fields in front of the church are planted with hundreds of golden sunflowers.
Lordington & Racton Monument
Do you dare try this walk to the ‘most haunted’ location in West Sussex? Watch out for flying bricks, phantom tractors and apparitions appearing at windows! You will receive a far warmer welcome, however, at the end of this walk from the tea room at Lordington Park.
