Easy walks for the whole family
Hampshire Surrey West Sussex
Riverside Park & Dapdune Wharf
The route follows the River Wey Navigation from Riverside Park Nature Reserve. You will pass Stoke Lock where you can watch the boats be lifted and lowered. At Dapdune Wharf, there is plenty of opportunity to recharge the batteries before the walk back with a tea room, boat rides, play area, exhibits and a second-hand bookshop.
California Country Park
Many families will come to California Country Park for its outstanding play area, sensory water play and seasonal paddling pool. But there is more to be discovered in the park, including lakeside walks and a hundred acres of lowland heath and bogland accessed by boardwalks.
Horsell Common
Horsell Common has a mixture of landscapes, all of which can be explored on this walk. You will find yourself crossing rivers, wetlands, meadows, woodland and sandy heath. The walk starts and finishes at Heather Farm Cafe which overlooks the wetlands. Children will love playing at the huge natural sandpit half-way around.
Leith Hill
In May and June, the Rhododendron Wood at Leith Hill is a riot of colour and scent. Start a woodland walk here and then climb to The Tower for the best views in South-East England.
Norbury Park
This historic parkland between Leatherhead and Dorking is a much valued place for recreational walks. Multiple trails pass through woodland, grassland and beside the river Mole, revealing fabulous views along the way.
Every Ambling Path walk has a stand out feature that children will love including magnificent play areas, shallow rivers for paddling, epic country parks and ancient ruins to explore.
