Fordingbridge
The wide shallow ford at Fordingbridge has to be the best place to paddle in Hampshire and just to add to it, the park next door has its own paddling pool too. You can park up next to the site, or follow our walk from the forest's edge.
Lepe Country Park
The Lepe Loop will take you along the beach, returning via woodland and fields. It starts and finishes at Lepe Country Park where there is plenty for families to do. You will want to set aside a day for this one!
Tall Trees Trail
Walk under the tallest trees in the New Forest on this easy to follow forestry trail. At the end, play in the steam, take a picnic or grab and ice-cream from the van.
New Forest Reptile Centre
If you are visiting The New Forest during the school holidays, then you will not want to miss this walk. Children can view the UK’s native reptiles in a series of pods before embarking on a discovery trail through the forest that will encourage them to engage with their senses.
Keyhaven Marshes Nature Reserve
Walk along the seawall and enjoy stunning views of the marshes and mudflats that make up this nature reserve, which is not only beautiful, but also an internationally important habitat for migratory birds. The walk is entirely flat and very easy to follow.
Wilverley Inclosure
If you are looking for a place to take the family for a walk in the New Forest, then Wilverley Inclosure makes an excellent choice with its firm, waymarked paths, toilets and a picnic area.
Moors Valley Country Park
The play trail may only be a mile long, but expect it to take you a couple of hours to walk, for along the way are nine incredible wooden play structures that will enchant children of all ages. Moors Valley Country Park is right on the Hampshire/Dorset border and is host to an exceptional amount of forest attractions, most of which are free.
Buckler’s Hard
Follow the banks of The River Beaulieu to the picturesque ship building hamlet of Buckler’s Hard with its Georgian cottages running down to the quay. There is plenty for the whole family to see and do on this walk, which starts from the popular New Forest village of Beaulieu.
